Behold Methuselah! It's a Great Basin bristlecone pine tree that lives in California's White Mountains. And it's lived there for over 4800 years! That makes it possibly the oldest tree in the world. It's named after the biblical figure Methuselah, who was said to be 900 years old. Say what you will, we don't think it looks a day over 4,000! | Inside Edition

What’s the oldest tree in the world? While you could say it’s a bristlecone pine tree in California (“Methuselah”) that’s ~5,000 years old, there’s an argument to be made that’s it’s actually “Pando” (the “trembling giant”) a clone of aspen (AKA poplar) trees that’s an estimated 80,000 years old! #tree #trees #treesofinstagram #forest #forests #nature #old #ancient #forester #stem | Ethan Tapper

Forbidden truth on Instagram: "🔴The oldest confirmed non-clonal Bristlecone Pine (Pinus longaeva) is Methuselah, a being whose tree rings mark nearly 4,850 years of existence. It clings to life in the bleak, wind-flayed emptiness of the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, hidden in the remote heights of Inyo National Forest, Inyo County, California—where the ground is bone-dry, the cold is merciless, and almost nothing but this ancient survivor has the strength to outlast the centuries. . . . . .

I may be way off, but im guessing this bristle cone pine is about 2000 years old, fairly young compared to the other trees in the forest with the oldest being 4,847 years old, the oldest tree on earth. Methuselah. They grow 1 inch in diameter every century (100 yrs). A lot of the bristlecone tree may be dead, but has living parts of it as well.
