It’s mating day! Alpacas are mating stimulated ovulaters. That means the mating stimulates the release of the egg, no season or coming on heat. The sound the males mate is called orgling. The females are ready to remate 17-21 days after birthing and then spend 11-11.5 months pregnant. A very slow pregnancy. We only mate until 13th July, so later birth mum’s won’t get re-mated. We also don’t mate girls who are out of condition or have been ill (like Inca). | Mullacott Alpacas
