French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will travel to Washington next week amid alarm in Europe over U.S. President Donald Trump's hardening stance towards Ukraine and overtures to Moscow on the three-year conflict.

President Donald Trump’s promotion of Russia’s narrative has caused worry in Europe that the United States is redrawing its long-standing alliances.

"It's unacceptable, they [Ukraine] need to tone it down and take a hard look and sign that deal," he tells Fox News. The deal he is referring to is a push by Donald Trump for access to rare minerals in Ukraine in return for aid, or even as compensation for the support the US has already provided.

The administration’s rush toward peace talks with Russia on the war in Ukraine has raised concerns over the U.S. commitment to the region’s security.
