Starbucks is asking its corporate staff to follow a new corporate policy or accept a cash payment to leave the company. It's all part of a massive plan to ‘turn the business around.’

Starbucks will require its corporate workforce to work in the office four days a week this fall, and is offering buyouts to employees who want to leave the company.

That change is expected to being within the new fiscal year which kicks off on October 1. As for those in a remote work setting, that will also be coming to an end. In February the company asked all "vp+ leaders" to begin relocating to Seattle or Toronto and will be extending that requirement to all support center leaders.

Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol’s words will hold a lot more weight if he can show Starbucks employees he’s willing to do what he’s asking them to do.

Starbucks stock slid after Melius Research advised investors to sell, citing concerns about operational efficiency and the coffee chain’s efforts to revive its brand.

The employees at the Starbucks on Manhasset’s Plandome Road filed a petition for a union election last week, citing cut hours and understaffing.
