A veteran NFL insider's update on the Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback decision appeared to confirm an offseason rumor about Russell Wilson.

Last season was a roller coaster ride for the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks. Russell Wilson suffers an injury very early in the offseason, opening the door for Justin Fields to start the season. He did just that and went 4-2 in his first six games.

With Sam Darnold likely gone and J.J. McCarthy unproven, Wilson could be a steady presence in Minnesota’s offense. McCarthy could also gain from sitting behind Wilson for a season after missing the entirety of his rookie season due to a torn meniscus.

The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be leaning increasingly toward Justin Fields as their quarterback in 2025. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler gave the latest update on Fields and the Steelers on Thursday, saying there is plenty of internal optimism that a deal will be made for Pittsburgh with Fields.

"Russell Wilson is already putting in the work," NFL reporter Dov Kleiman said while reposting a video of Wilson's workout. "Year 14 will be ELECTRIC," he added with a googly eyes emoji. Fans didn't seem convinced as they watched video of Wilson going through the motions on the training field.
