NEW YORK -- The NBA fined the Cleveland Cavaliers $250,000 on Thursday for violating the league’s player participation policy by resting All-Star guard Darius Garland for a nationally televised game against the Toronto Raptors on Nov. 24.
The NBA has fined the Cleveland Cavaliers $250,000 for sitting Darius Garland for the team's Nov. 24 nationally televised game against the Toronto Raptors, the league announced Thursday. Garland did play the previous day in a non-nationally televised game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers made one of their star players unavailable for the wrong game and paid a price for it.
