Before a meeting with President Trump, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said that Russia’s 2014 seizure of Ukrainian land became “a springboard for a new attack.”

President Donald Trump is scheduled Monday afternoon to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office, where six months ago the two leaders engaged in a televised shouting match that threw into doubt how long the U.S. would continue its support for Ukraine against a Russia invasion.

Volodymyr Zelensky and a posse of European leaders are headed to the White House to discuss a possible end to the Russian invasion.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday hailed the United States' offer of security guarantees as a “historic decision”, a day before his meeting with US President Donald Trump. This comes after US envoy Steve Witkoff hinted that the US was prepared to commit to security guarantees.

Trump: “President Zelensky can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight."
