Up to 100mm of rain expected in some areas along with 60mph wind gusts, Met Office warns

The Met Office has issued a rare amber warning for heavy rain across a major region of Britain as forecasters warn of a "danger to life" from flooding. Britain's national forecaster has issued the rain warning for a 16-hour period and has warned homes and businesses are likely to be flooded,

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for heavy rain and deep floodwater that could cause “danger to life”. The warning covers south and mid-Wales from Newport to Carmarthen and north to Brecon between 3pm on Sunday and 6am on Monday.

Heavy rain is likely to cause some flooding and disruption across parts of Wales, according to the Met Office. It has issued an amber weather warning across mid and south east Wales on Sunday from 15:00 GMT until 06:00 on Monday.
