Most people probably know about the “Big Three” of Election Day in Virginia on Nov. 4: Abigail Spanberger (D) faces off against Winsome Earle-Sears (R) in the governor’s race. Ghazala Hashmi (D) and John Reid (R) are running for lieutenant govenor.

The state has been greatly affected by the lapse in government funding. It’s the October surprise that could pack the biggest punch.

Virginia is barreling toward a Nov. 4 general election in which voters will choose a new governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general while also deciding all 100 seats in the House of Delegates.
