Members of AFSCME District Council 33, Philadelphia's largest municipal union, reached a tentative new contract agreement with the city Wednesday, ending a labor strike that began at midnight last Tuesday.

The latest court order concerns airport emergency response workers. In the union's last major work stoppage in 1986, sanitation workers were ultimately ordered back to work by a judge.

Several areas in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and other cities faced flash flooding from severe thunderstorms that hit the region.
