An app that functions as a kind of "Yelp for men" has captured the attention of the internet—for better or for worse.

The viral app, meant as a space for women to share advice and safety tips, said the hack included 13,000 images of photo IDs and selfies used to verify accounts.

The images had been in a "legacy data system" that contained information from more than two years ago, the company says.
